Machine shop

The Machine Shop’s main job is to produce and develop prototypes and equipment for researchers and users of DTU Chemistry, and at times users of other departments and external collaborators.

In addition to the development and production, the machine shop also carries out the following work:

  • Counseling with regard to the purchases of new equipment and material for various work tasks and prototypes.
  • Safety equipment and bottle management and the installation hereof.
  • Setting up and installing the equipment for experiments.
  • Maintenance and repair of vacuum pumps, centrifuge, rotary evaporators and rotary stirrers and dry pumps, oil pumps and membrane pumps.
  • General reparations of laboratory equipment.

The Machine Shop uses the following tools for the work:

  • Turn/twist (manual and quadruple-axis CNC)
  • Mill (manual triple-axis CNC)
  • CAD/CAM (SolidWorks and Mastercam)
  • Plate printing
  • Welding
  • Hydraulic press
  • Contour saw for metal
  • Measuring tools
  • Sandblasting
  • Column-type drilling machine
  • 3D print in various plastics

The facility carries out both minor and bigger tasks. You are welcome to reach out if you want guidance on options for your project specifically.
