NEW HOUR 15:30!!
Dean of Graduate School, Professor Peter Weber Brown University, R.I., USA
will give a talk entitled
Molecules in Motion: Watching Chemical Reactions
Abstract:
Photoionization – photoelectron spectroscopy out of Rydberg states has been found to be a superbly capable method to map structural motions of molecules. The talk discusses the method and highlights recent results on the isomerization reaction of the quadricyclane/ norbornadiene system, and on the charge transfer of dimethyl-piperazine. Paths to extend the capability of the method to make it a structural spectroscopy are discussed, as are extensions of the technique into atmospheric pressure environments.
