As of August 1st 2025, DTU Chemistry appointed Luca Laraia as Professor. His appointment recognizes his strong scientific achievements and contributions to the Department’s scientific environment.
Professor Laraia leads a research group focused on developing advanced chemical tools for studying lipid transport in humans and pathogenic fungi. His work holds great promise for new approaches to cancer treatment and infectious control – areas of major societal importance.
Since joining DTU Chemistry, Laraia has contributed to the Department’s research environment and teaching activities, notably through the supervision of students and early-career researchers. His appointment marks an important step in further strengthening chemical biology research at DTU Chemistry.
Professor Laraia has been appointed alongside three colleagues: Professor Katrine Qvortrup, Professor Susanne Mossin, and Professor Wei Yan. The newly appointed professors will deliver inaugural lectures during autumn, winter, and spring.
