Education 

1964-69          

B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from The Technical Univer­sity of Denmark.

 

1970-72          

Ph.D.  study.  The work was supervised by Dr. Kjeld Rasmussen and Professor Flemming Woldbye at Chemistry Department A, The Technical University of Denmark, and examined by Professor, Dr. Christian Klixbull Jørgensen, Université de

Genève. The thesis: "Vibrational Spectroscopy of Ethylenediamine Compounds", 1972, was published in Danish. The main part of the results was published as 5 papers in English, in international journals.

 

1973               

National service.

 

Positions and awards 

1969-70          

Practising scientist with The Danish Atomic Energy Com­mission, National Research Laboratory Risø. The work consisted mainly in powder metallurgy.

 

1974-75          

Research Fellow at The Technical University of Denmark, working on a pro­ject: "Intra and Intermolecular Vibrations in Crystalline Compounds".

 

1975               

Visiting scientist, Department of Chemistry, Univ. of Leicester, England (3 months).

 

1975-78          

Senior research fellow at The Technical University of Denmark. Work on pha­se transitions in crystals.

 

1978-79          

Research Fellowship from Danish Natural Science Foundation. Resonance Ra­man spectroscopy of molten salts.

 

1979               

Visiting scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, Chemical Engineering Depart­ment, for 3 months payed by U.S. Department of Energy.

 

1980               

Awarded the Ole Rømer price for the work on phase transitions.

 

1980-83          

Research Fellowship from Danish Technical Science Foundation: Molten Salt Battery Research and Development.

 

1981               

Selected "qualified" to become a full professor in General and Inorganic Chem­istry at the Royal Veterinarian and Agricultural University, Copenha­gen.

 

1981                

Basic Course in Adult Teaching and Pedagogies, University of Copenhagen.

 

1984               

Selected "qualified" to become associate professor in Inorganic Chemistry at the Technical University of Denmark.

 

1984-today    

Associate Professor at The Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

 

1985               

Visiting Professor during 2 months at The Technical University of Trondheim.

 

1991-today    

Leader for laboratory course in qualitative analytical chemistry at DTU.

 

1992               

Awarded a price of honour, DKR 10.000,- from The Technical University of Denmark.  Member of the Danish Academy of Natural Sciences.      Appointed external Ph.D. examinator (Thesis by G. D. Wald) at Department of  Chemistry,

University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

 

1993-today    

Member of the International Union of Crystallography.

 

1994               

Awarded a price of honour, DKR 15.000 from The Technical University of Denmark. Appointed external Ph.D. examinator (Thesis by J. S. Weaving) at Department of Chemistry, University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

 

1996               

Awarded a price of honour DKR 150.000 from the Corrit Foundation, Den­mark.

 

1997               

Appointed to National representative in the committee of ECTN (European Chemistry Thematic Network) on the topic “Core Chemistry” (until 2001).

 

1998               

Selected "qualified" to become a full professor in “Inorganic Materials Chem­istry” at the Department of Chemistry, The Technical University of Denmark.

 

1998-today

2000
