State of the Art Study
In the report from the Danish government's Climate Partnership for the energy and utilities sector, it is estimated that there is potential for storing 5 million tons/year of CO2 in the depleted offshore oil and gas reservoirs in Denmark. However, do we have all the knowledge required to begin such projects?
DHRTC has decided to start a state of the art study to answer that question and identify knowledge and technology gaps with respect to CO2 storage within the DUC oil and gas reservoirs. The study will also try to map how the identified gaps could be filled.
The study was kicked off in the beginning of August and will run until the end of the year. It will consist of a literature study and a series of interviews with experts both within the universities in the DHRTC network and with a wider number of stakeholders within academia and industry. It is expected that at the end of the study there will be an overview of the CO2 storage research forefront, but also an understanding of what it is we don’t know and how the gaps could be filled.
