Our ambition is to advance chemical and biological sciences for the simultaneous benefit of basic scientific understanding and truly applied needs.
We believe that we can contribute by improving the understanding of the relation between function and structure of molecules.
To really understand chemical interaction and processes in chemistry, biology and biotechnology, it is necessary to understand the structure of the molecules, small or big. The structure includes both the sometimes complex chemical structure and the conformation and dynamics of the molecules involved.
The research is primarily focused on carbohydrates from small oligosaccharides to large complex polysaccharides and their chemical, enzymatical or biological conversion.
The primary method used is Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. We combine the practical application of high field solution NMR with the development of new methods with the intention to constantly push the boundaries of the method.
We work in close collaborations with many group with competences in among other field; brewing, chemistry, enzymology, physics and molecular biology.
