Elisabeth Lojou is a senior researcher in the Bioenergetic and Protein Engineering Laboratory (Aix Marseille University, CNRS) in France. She obtained her PhD degree in 1988 at Paris Val de Marne University (France) where she investigated interfaces in Li/Liquid cathode cells. After a postdoctoral at SAFT company (France), she joined CNRS in Thiais (France) to develop organic electrosynthesis processes. She moved to Marseille in 1995, where she started to study the electrochemistry of redox proteins. Since then, her group develops research in the domain of fundamental bioelectrochemistry, with a special interest in the electron transfer between functionalized nanostructured electrodes and redox enzymes, such as hydrogenases and multicopper oxidases. Since more than 5 years, it is engaged in the design of H2/O2 enzymatic fuel cells.
