1977 B.Sc. suma cum laude in chemistry, Edinburgh University, Scotland 
1981 Ph.D.  University of Göteborg, Sweden (Prof. O. Wennerström)
 1982-1983       Postdoc, University of Pennsylvania, USA  (Prof. K. C.  Nicolaou)
1983–1988      Assistant Professor, Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg
1988–1995 Associate Professor, University of Uppsala, Sweden.

Research Interests
Organic chemistry, particularly stereoselective organic synthesis. Total synthesis of natural products. Organometallic chemistry and catalysis.

110 papers in international, peer-reviewed journals, 2 book chapters, with a total of 2970 citations (March 2009; h-index 30).

Research Supervision  
Supervisor or co-supervisor for 28 finalized Ph. D. projects, 14 postdoctoral fellows, and a large number of M. Sc. theses.

Invited Lectures
Since becoming Professor at DTU in 1995, I have been invited speaker at ca. 30 international conferences outside Denmark. I lecture on average 5 times per year at universities and/or companies outside Denmark.
