On the 8th of January 2019, we are excited to host guest speakers Dr. Bertold Plischke (ISAMGEO Engineering GmbH) and Dr. Alessandro Brovelli (ISAMGEO Italia) at the Centre for Oil and Gas – DTU.

Are you a petroleum engineer, geoscientists or a student familiar with rock mechanics you might find the following lectures of interest:

14:00 – 15:00
Dr. Bertold Plischke will talk on the topic of: ‘Wellbore stability’

15:00 – 15:45
Dr. Alessandro Brovelli will talk on the topic of: ‘Monitoring and understanding induced seismicity: a practical approach’.

15:45 – 16:30
Dr. Bertold Plischke will talk on the topic of: ‘The Valhall history match 2009 as an example for full field compaction and subsidence modelling of chalk fields’.

Join us at Centre for Oil and Gas – DTU, building 375, room 041, Elektrovej, building 375, 2800 Kgs. Lyngby.

Biographies

Dr. Bertold Plischke is a founder of a company ISAMGEO-Engineering GmbH specializing on numerical studies in rock mechanics, based in Wiesbaden (Germany). He has developed the finite element code ISAMGEO, which is especially suited for rock mechanical studies in petroleum engineering. Much of his work in the past 30 years has been on numerical studies in petroleum engineering. He was responsible for various compaction/subsidence studies, casing integrity studies and wellbore stability analyses mainly for fields in the North Sea (e.g. Ekofisk, Valhall, Tyra, South Arne, Gullfaks, Alwyn) and the Adriatic Basin.
From 1975 to 1984, he focused on the development of numerical models based on the finite element method and their application in geomechanics at the University of Aachen (Germany). In 1983, he defended PhD thesis on interpretation of displacements measured during tunnel excavation with respect to rock parameters and in-situ stresses.

Dr. Alessandro Brovelli is the co-founder and managing director of Isamgeo Italia srl, a geoscience consulting firm providing expert advice, data analysis and numerical modeling, in particular working for the oil & gas industry in the fields of geomechanics and passive seismic monitoring. Isamgeo Italia is based in Milan (Italy) with offices also in Pau (France). Together with Isamgeo Engineering Gmbh, Isamgeo Italia has been working extensively on subsidence studies in the Adriatic Basin, as well as on different projects in the North Sea and on the stability of underground cavities in salt (Kazakhstan). In recent years, Isamgeo Italia has worked also on induced seismicity monitoring, with projects primarily in Italy (for the oil&gas industry) and France (high-enthalpy geothermal resources).
Dr. Alessandro Brovelli owns a master degree in Environmental Science and a PhD in Chemistry with a dissertation concerning the chemical-physical properties of natural porous media. He has been working as a post-doc and researcher at the University of Padua, Italy for 2 years and EPFL - École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland, for 6 years. He has more than 30 publications on peer-reviewed scientific journals and book chapters, and more than 60 conference abstracts
