DHRTCs Radical Innovation Sprint offers funding to people who have radical ideas with the potential to change the oil and gas industry. Last year, 13 radical ideas were funded. One overall finding was the great importance of dialogue between researcher and industry experts.
“Do you have a radical idea?” Those were the opening words for the DHRTC Radical Innovation Sprint and in 2017 and 53 people replied yes. 13 people got the opportunity to work on their ideas for a three-month period.
“It is clear that the three-month sprint has matured the radical ideas significantly. DHRTC have learned a lot from the researchers who participated in RIS 2017. One of the most important learnings has been in the establishment of a culture of feed and feedback between researchers and DHRTC industry experts; this culture has proven extremely valuable in relation to the innovation of research results into the oil and gas industry,” says Lene Hjelm Poulsen, Technical Advisor, Danish Hydrocarbon Research and Technology Centre (DHRTC).
"We are very grateful to the researchers for this learning"

Throughout the three-month sprint, research has been integrated into oil and gas production to such an extent that it is clear to everyone what technical value each idea can bring to the oil and gas industry.
“We are very grateful to the researchers for this learning. Therefore, we will also establish thisfeedback culture in the Radical sprint 2018,” ends Lene Hjelm Poulsen.
Radical Innovation 2018
The aim of the DHRTC Radical Innovation Sprint is to fund work on radical ideas, which can potentially lead to disruptive changes in the industry.
This year, another sprint has been launched and currently DHRTC hosts 13 ideation workshops around the country.
