Building 212, which now houses DTU’s new centre for
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), is now officially open! The inauguration
attracted researchers, students, collaborators and others from the NMR environment from both academia and industry to DTU Chemistry, where the inauguration was celebrated with a scientific symposium and reception.
Head of the NMR Center DTU, Associate Professor Charlotte H. Gotfredsen, DTU Chemistry, initiated the day's scientific symposium where leading NMR scientists held some interesting talks:

The Inauguration of the NMR Center DTU: The Symposium and reception were held in
building 208 at DTU.
Head of Department of Chemistry, Professor Erling H. Stenby, welcomed everybody to the inauguration of the NMR Center DTU, hosted by DTU Chemistry. With this new infrastructure DTU Chemistry can bring NMR research at DTU in front.
NMR spectroscopy is one of the most important techniques to study organic molecules, and has therefore been chosen to be a strategic focus at DTU.
"NMR spectroscopy has always been strong at DTU Chemistry. We have now reached a point where we can contribute significantly to the development of chemistry and biotechnology at DTU," explained Head of the NMR Center, Associate Professor Charlotte H. Gotfredsen, Department of Chemistry.
"The NMR Center DTU will function both as an infrastructure, but also as a hub of knowledge with equipment for advanced research and use of NMR spectroscopy in many projects, both at DTU and in cooperation with other universities and companies".

This is it! The VILLUM FONDEN made available a grant of DKK 16 million for a new generation of NMR spectrometers at DTU Chemistry. The two new instruments, together with the existing unit that was previously donated by Carlsberg, have now been housed in a separate facility Building 212: NMR Center—DTU. is now open www.nmr.dtu.dk
