Biophysical and Biomedicinal Chemistry

The research in the Biophysical and Biomedical Chemistry area focuses primarily on chemistry at the interface to biology, with applications within the biocatalytic, pharmaceutical and biomedical fields, where the traditional boundaries between physics, chemistry and biology tend to merge.

Ongoing research projects focus on studying protein structure-function relationships, protein-protein complexes, protein evolution, lipid membranes and nanoparticle systems for drug delivery and diagnostics using in-silico methods (ranging from bioinformatics tools to molecular dynamics simulations and quantum mechanics calculations) and a broad range of experimental techniques including spectroscopic and calorimetric techniques.
