A 9-month postdoctoral position is available at DTU Chemistry starting from November 1, 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
 
The project involves the study of copper proteins called laccases, and aims to understand how these laccases are involved in the breakdown of plant material lignin. This would allow us to develop better enzymes for second-generation biofuel production. The project is a collaboration between Professor Anne Meyer, DTU Chemical Engineering, Professor Morten Bjerrum and Sine Larsen at Department of Chemistry, Copenhagen University, and Professor Kasper Planeta Kepp at DTU Chemistry who will be the main supervisor on the project.
 
Responsibilities and tasks

  • Build homology models and perform molecular dynamics studies of laccases.
  • Perform chemoinformatic analysis of laccase structure –function relations.
  • Drafting manuscripts describing project results.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should have a PhD degree in computational chemistry.
  • Strong experience with protein modeling, including molecular dynamics using Gromacs, Desmond, or related programs.
  • Good programming and scripting skills.
  • Several first-author papers in good international journals.
  • Independence and good communication skills in English.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The position includes an internationally competitive salary and pension package, vacation allowance, and Danish state-paid health care.

The position is for 9 months.
